Which order type is recommended for Service Planning?

Post by Bernd Welter »

Hi folks,

some of my partners are dealing with the optimization of the schedules of service technicians. In terms of the meta restrictions their focus is:
  • Quantities : irrelevant
  • Timeframes : significant
  • Skillsets : significant
Now as the order types DeliveryOrder, PickupOrder and PickupDeliveryOrder are meant to deal with the irrelevant quantities: is there a clear recommendation which one of the types should be used to modell service technicians?

What are the benefits / obstacles / disadvantages of the order types in this context?

An here comes the response form the Competence Center:
We generally model these types of service orders as deliveries without set capacities.
Modelling them as pickups would be fine as well.
