Resources properties: capacity and availability

Hi,

I’ve been looking into the resource object in Optiflow and its role in modeling drivers and trailers separately from vehicles.

I see that you have just yesterday (API version 1.59.1) added an availabilities array on the resource object, which is great and clearly shows you’re working on time‑window support there.

I have two follow‑up questions:

1. Can we expect capacity‑related fields on the resource object, so that trailers can be modeled without capacity trade‑offs?
1.1. If you plan to add capacity, would it also make sense to support order–resource combination constraints? (I might explain the reason for this question in a separate thread so I don’t make this topic too long.)
1.2 Could we define the maximum trailers that could be assigned to a vehicle (1 max, 2 max etc).

2. Do you also plan to support availability as an array on the vehicle object (similar to resources), instead of the current two time‑window objects (start and end)?

Hi Marko,

thanks for the feedback I forwarded this thread to our optimizer experts and asked them fomr assistance.
As my own contribution is focused on "what is possible at the moment?" and not "what will we offer next?" I need the contribution of the other players.

here comes the response of the colleagues from the optimize team:

There are no concrete plans to extend the resources with capacities right now, but our incoming requests are constantly being re-prioritized so this could change.

So it is not on the road map.

thanks a lot for checking with the optimizer team and for your update.


We’re definitely open to a 1:1 discussion about this topic. Before we do that, we’d like to first analyze all the potential trade‑offs that could come with introducing any new feature, and also define our requirements more precisely on our side.

One scenario is the prediscussed: "orders that are incompatible on the same vehicle unless they’re separated into different compartments (truck vs. trailer)." Which could be solved by declaring a trailer as a vehicle compartment.

We’ll review these kinds of cases internally and then get back to you on the topic.
