Toll vs vignette

Post by Sajmon »

Hello,

Does PTV Developer (routing/v1) provide any information about vignette costs?
If not, is this something you plan to add? Or maybe there is another solution?

Best regards,
Szymon

Hello Szymon,

this topic is known within PTV's product management.
I forwarded your post to my colleagues and asked them for a status update.

Maybe you can give us more details about what exactly you need such info for?
  • Some players ask for "just let us know here we would need vignette"
  • Others want to know the price of the vignette
  • And others want to change the routing geometry based on vignette properties...

Hi Bernd,

Thanks for the quick reply! ;)

We use PTV products mainly to calculate routes for trucks, one of the most important factors in selecting a specific route is cost breakdown, of course besides distance and duration.

For sure, we would like to know price of applicable vignette based on truck attributes passed in request, it is also possible that some users would chose another route.

But if this is not currently available, we'd like to explore other options.

Hello Szymon,

here's a statement from the product management
we no longer support vignette-based charging in PTV Developer.

Within Europe, only two countries still use the Eurovignette:
  • Sweden
  • Luxembourg
The Netherlands will exit on 30 June 2026, and Denmark already left in 2025.

Under EU regulation, these remaining countries must move to CO₂-based, kilometre tolling by 2030 (latest 2032 for the common system). Our services are fully kilometre-based, so vignette logic is not part of our data model.

If needed, partners can easily handle this as a simple business rule outside our APIs.
Please let me know if you need further details.
