Polygons around TollObejcts

Dear All,
We wish to surround current and future TollObjects in our system with a border, in order to better identify the area subject to the given TollObject.
Our chosen method would be to map polygons around TollObjects, thus giving them a certain area of coverage.
Therefore, I would like to inquire if it is at all possible to get this information out of the PTV TollObject database regarding polygons surrounding the aforementioned TollObjects? And if not, do you have a tool available, with which the recording can be done manually?
Thank you in advance,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,
sounds a bit like an administrative task that should be performed once per map update.
Within the xLocate 1 interface we offer the POI search where you can limit hits to specific POI types, e.g. TollLocations:
https://xserver.ptvgroup.com/fileadmin/ ... _Types.htm
But before I can give you a proper direction I'd like to understand your expectation towards the info you want to gather:
What is you understanding of a "toll object"?
Best regards,
Bernd

Dear Bernd,
Our understanding of TollObjects currently consist of parking lots, ferries, gas stations, etc. So thus, what we call TollObject is a subset of the POIs you have sent us in your answer.
What we intend to do with them is assign a certain area to each of these POIs, just as you can see in the attached picture. Our goal is to more accurately pinpoint the locations of event recognition.
In this example, the POI in question is represented by the P1 marker and the polygon, which is the actual area of the parking lot is highlighted in red.
The information we are seeking is the red polygon. Therefore, the question is whether you have this information readily available in some accessible way? And if not, is there a tool you can provide us to record them manually?
Thank you in advance,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,
unfortunately such geometries are not available through the API or data department.
We also can't provide a tool to be used for such an administration.
I still want to go back in the process:
Imagine you have a table data structure defined by
ID ; x ; y ; geometry
How would you use it in the next step of your workflow?
What kind of events do you want to recognize?
Best regards,
Bernd

Dear Bernd,
Currently we recognize when a long-haul truck stops (and stays there for an extended period of time) in the vicinity of the POI, but however our systems do not explicitly match the given stop to the predetermined task (in this case let's say a parking). Thus, if we had the table you mentioned, we would be able to determine whether the truck stopped in the geometry of the parking lot, or if it is just outside of it and therefore the event classifies as a wrong parking (when the truck stops at not the predetermined parking lot, but farther away, where for instance it could be robbed).
Therefore we would like to implement the geometry of POIs in our workflow in this step, to be able to more accurately recognize whether the truck is inside the borders of a POI or not, and thus limit the recognition of false wrong parking events.
Furthermore, we would like to ask if either the geometries or the tool is in your current scope? Can we expect these in the near future, or perhaps in one of the upcoming updates?
Thank you in advance,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,
now I get a better picture of your usecase, thanks. Basically the geometries you need are not part of the standard.
I therefore forwarded the post to two colleagues
"Andreas" is a data junkie, responsible for gathering any kind of custom data.
"Stephan" knows
https://www.truckparkingeurope.com/ quite well. At least there could be some overlap in your usecases (or are you competitors?).
Let's wait for Andreas feedback,
Best regards,
Bernd

Hello Daniel,
Sorry for late replay. Anyway, we do not have yet any sufficient data set implemented in our current data sets. I checked also some suppliers for such data, they have some, but with poor coverage.
Regards
Andreas

Dear Andreas,
Thank you for your answer. Is it possible for customers to access the data your suppliers can provide? Or is it for internal use only?
If it can be available to us, in what format is it available in? And how could we access the data?
Thank you in advance,
Daniel

Hello Again,
I did some Research. Off the sĀ“helf there is no such data avaialble. But we do have a Option of creating such data on Project base via a Partner. He send us some add Questions to place a proper offer:
- loaction of parking spots - close to Highway / Speedway or even with a Buffer of 3 km?
- could you provide a list of relevant Locations?
- should there be a Evaluation of additional Areas like Cities?
- prio list of relevant countries?
If such work will be done for Europe, the Budget need to be clear since the data has to be created more or less manualy as well as some License cost for recent Aerial imagery (prime source of data Generation)
Of Course, just Germany will be less Budget.
Regards
Andreas
