Hi Peter,
In fact the concept of Developer is to offer "stories which are easy to understand" instead of "technical features which are mighty but at the same time too complex"
From my perspective the native xserver2 is an extremely flexible and powerful interface but sometimes just too hard to be handeled properly without consulting advice...
The downsize of Developer is that not every native feature is accessible through it's implified "glasses" (so far) but nevertheless users can pick the API version that is sufficient in terms of flexibility and simple in terms of complexity...
