Basic usecases of PTV MIRA

Post by Bernd Welter »

Just some sample usecases for MIRA
  • Training / Knowledgetransfer: use MIRA to get a visualization of a specific topic - whether it is optimization in general or a special subtopic such as "electric vehicles", "cost factors", "compartments". She will extract and display just the required properties and this will simplify the learning process.
  • Stay up to date: ask MIRA to provide a summary of new features - whether you are looking into a specific version (e.g. 1.56.0) or a timespan (what's been released in the last 4 weeks?)
  • Modelling: you want to model a usecase in DAPI and need to know what parameters to use? Let's define and refine a story... you can add more and more complexity whenever you want.
  • Operational / analysis: you see order 4711 is unscheduled. Why does this happen? How can you change your settings to get the order scheduled? The strength lies in the dynamic description of the information you are interested in the exact moment when you need it. You can also ask from a quite generic level ("analyse the output") and she will drag attention to the painpoints of an optimization.
  • Tactical: you want to move some of your trucks from one depot to another - where is the biggest potential according to the sample data? Let MIRA apply the change and display the impact.
  • What if 1: alternatives given - strategic planning where you let MIRA decide between given alternatives. You want to open a new depot - either in Berlin or Hamburg. Where would MIRA recommend this to be placed? What would be the result? She can simulate multiple plannings in parallel.
  • What if 2: no alternatives given - strategic planning where you let MIRA decide about alternatives. You want to open a new depot. Where does MIRA recommend this to be placed?
to be continued...
