Restriction on route swapping

This forum deals with any kind of routing computation whether it is simple A:B-routing, calculation of isochrones, simple matrix computation or nearest search.

Restriction on route swapping

Post by KZsolt »

Helo guys!

I have the following problem:
If I plan between these coordinates,
48.552293, 18.185663 -SK
48.615455, 18.277861 -SK
I get the following route (I linked both the PTV and googlemaps pics):
route1.JPG
route1_mg.JPG
According to my research we recieve that route because on the trunk road/highway line next to the highlighted has a 50 km/h speed limitation and on the country road line the speed limitation is 90 km/h.

In my special case even with that speed limitation I'd prefer to use the trunk road/highway line (where the truck currently is - highlighted with light blue) instead of the (better) country road I receive.
route2_mg.jpg
Is there any way to somehow controll the number of road swaping (to give bonus malus for the current road we are on or something like that)?
I've tried to modify the profiles with different MalusByNetworkClass values for the different NetworkClasses but that didn't really help. I tried to modify to Routing Parameters as well but that wasn't efective either.

The reason why I'm asking this: In some case it's better if we loose some slight advantage (time, cost) but we can plan an "easy to follow" route between the coordinates.

Any suggestions how can I achieve that? :)

Thanks,
Zsolt

Hello Zsolt,

though there is no explizit penalty defined for a swap from a network class to another network class it might be helpful to know the following features:
  • If you want to avoid (or prefer) a specific road you may use the ExceptionPath object to assign a malus value to that street (not by category but by a primary identification, e.g. streetname="64").
  • For some manoeuvres you can apply an AVOID_RAMPS malus which at least reduces some kind of unwanted manoeuvres.
Best regards

I tried to reproduce your plot but my routing track took your desired path from scratch. Which map and profile do you use?

Hi!

I've ran some tests again and as it seems the 40.000kg truck weight limitation cause the issue.
Currently I can't find the exact segment which has this limitation.

The map data is EuropePremium_2015_1H with TruckAttribute layer and MAX_WEIGHT=40000,MAX_HEIGHT=400,MAX_WIDTH=250,MAX_LENGTH=17500,MAX_AXLE_LOAD=1050
parameters.

Zsolt

Hello Zsolt,

please check the attached screenshot - there are several restrictions.

Hello Zsolt,

though the cause for the issue is definetly the TruckAttribute situation in the area I've been in touch with the core experts:
It is not possible to punish the change of the network class. Whether such a mechanism is helpful in general or not is probably a quite academic question and not on the roadmap.

Best regards from Germany,

Bernd

Hey!

Sorry I forgot to reply earlier :)
The segment limitation caused the issue. Thanks for all the ideas and sollutions guys.
